Following a two-month covert operation, the Western Central Regional Police Command has smashed a local drug ring, arresting two individuals for possession and sale of narcotics.
The bust stemmed from a December 2025 tip-off about drug peddling along Tarkwa Estate Road. Police intelligence mounted a surveillance operation, which culminated in a raid on a shop on February 5, 2026.
The initial search uncovered tramadol. The suspects then led officers to a second location near the Tarkwa Market Circle, revealing a major stash. The haul included:
22 compressed parcels of suspected cannabis.
44 sachets of "arms" (suspected cannabis).
Large quantities of Tramadol, Tapentadol, and Timaking tablets.
500 boxes of Oris cigarettes & 38 boxes of laser smoking pads.
Drug processing tools and GH¢2,001 in suspected sales proceeds.
Investigations suggest the operation's tentacles reach beyond the region. Police are now hunting for one Atanga, based in Bolgatanga and allegedly the brother of a suspect, who is identified as the main supplier.
