The body of a female student has been retrieved from a pool of water in Kasoa, Central Region, by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). The tragic discovery was made on the night of Monday, June 23, 2025.

According to a GNFS statement issued on June 24, 2025, emergency responders were alerted at 10:02 p.m., leading to the rapid deployment of a rescue team. Firefighters arrived at the scene by 10:28 p.m. and successfully recovered the body by 10:42 p.m.

The victim, Gloria Segoe, was a student at Keta Business Senior High School (KETABUSCO) in the Volta Region. Reports indicate that she had obtained permission from her school to visit her grandmother in Agbozome but instead traveled to Kasoa to meet her boyfriend. She allegedly stayed with him for nearly three days before her death.

The GNFS disclosed that the boyfriend later reported himself to the Kasoa Police Station after learning of the incident. He claimed to have been at work earlier that day and only became aware of the tragedy afterward.

The deceased’s body has been transferred to the Ghana Police Service for further investigation.

The GNFS commended its personnel for their swift and efficient response while expressing sympathy to the bereaved family. The service also urged students and young people to exercise caution and responsibility in their actions.

Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding Gloria’s death.
