The opposition leader, John Dramani Mahama, has expressed gratitude to security officers, media workers, and Electoral Commission (EC) staff who took part in the Special Voting process. In a Facebook post, he expressed gratitude for the support he received, writing, "I sincerely appreciate the overwhelming assurance my team and I received from you."

However, Mahama also noted difficulties encountered throughout the exercise, such as people being unable to cast ballots due to inconsistencies in the Special people List. He also bemoaned the postponing of Special Voting in the Eastern and Western areas to Thursday, December 5, 2024, calling it as an additional hardship on people currently dealing with socioeconomic challenges.

"Regrettably, Special Voting in Eastern and Western regions remain postponed to Thursday, December 5, 2024, adding more burden to your numerous socio-economic challenges," said the president.

Despite these defeats, Mahama urged optimism, underlining the opportunity for change in the approaching elections. He ended with a message of hope: "I urge you to be of good cheer because the new era to reset our country beckons."

This message underscores his campaign's commitment to tackling systemic issues and promoting a more inclusive political process. Mahama's acknowledgement of logistical challenges during the Special Voting process emphasizes the need for reforms to minimize disenfranchisement and maintain voting integrity.

As Ghanaians prepare for the 2018 elections, the call for resilience and a shared commitment to progress rings true. Mahama's speech is to inspire voters to persevere in the face of adversity, emphasizing the significance of their role in defining the country's future.
