Ghpage reported today, Sunday, August 3, 2025, that a disturbing case of child endangerment has stunned the Takoradi community after authorities rescued a missing 16-year-old student.
The girl, who had been missing for more than a week, was found hidden in a single-room apartment owned by 32-year-old mechanic Daniel Moso.
Police stated that the victim, a junior high school student, disappeared on July 24 while returning home from school. Her family and school officials launched an intensive search before reporting her absence to the police.
The situation took a grim turn when a neighbor’s tip led officers to Moso’s home in Kokompe. Upon searching the residence, they discovered the traumatized teenager hiding under a bed, visibly terrified.
Inspector Juliet Ametepe, part of the rescue team, shared, "She was frightened and reluctant to speak at first, but after calming her, she explained that she had been held against her will."
According to the victim’s statement, Moso allegedly enticed her with offers of mobile data and food, then confined her for days, threatening to kill her if she attempted to escape or seek help.
Moso was promptly arrested and is now detained at the Takoradi Central Police Station, facing charges of unlawful confinement, defilement, and death threats.
Local residents reacted with anger, demanding quick justice. "He lived here quietly—no one suspected anything. It’s terrifying," said Mama Efua, a neighbor who last saw the girl before she vanished.
The victim is currently receiving medical care and counseling, while her family has requested privacy during her recovery.
Police are continuing their investigation and have advised parents to monitor their children’s activities closely. "We are dedicated to protecting every child in our communities," Inspector Ametepe emphasized.
