The state funeral of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah was marked by a deeply moving moment when a nine-year-old boy, whose life he had transformed, came to bid him farewell.
Young Setor, who once depended on a plastic chair to move because of a health condition, had his surgery fully funded by Dr. Omane Boamah on August 5. Tragically, the minister passed away the following day—the very day he was scheduled to meet Setor after the successful operation.
Despite funeral arrangements, Setor’s family insisted on attending, bringing along the small plastic chair that had once been his only means of mobility. The chair symbolized his difficult past and the hope Dr. Boamah had given him.
“We brought his chair to show how he used to move before Dr. Omane Boamah helped him. I know, wherever he is, he would be happy to see Setor today,” his caretaker shared.
Though overcome with grief, Setor stood among the mourners—a quiet but powerful testament to the late minister’s kindness and lasting impact.
