Residents of the Volta Region were shocked when a well-known businessman, Mr. Samuel Kudzo, was discovered dead inside his house a few days after returning from a trip to London, according to a report published by Modern Ghana today.
When neighbors observed an unusual quiet surrounding his normally bustling home on Friday morning, the awful discovery was made.
Mr. Kudzo, who was in his late 40s, had returned to Ghana earlier this week after traveling overseas for a month on business, according to the Volta Regional Police.
Because he owned several stores and actively participated in neighborhood development initiatives, he was well-known in the community.
The businessman's body was found in the living room with obvious evidence of struggle, according to police reports.
His neck had signs that suggested he might have been strangled. Police Inspector Joseph Tetteh, who is in charge of the inquiry, stated, "We also discovered broken furniture, which indicates there might have been a fight before his death."
Madam Afia Mensah, a neighbor, stated that Wednesday night was the last time she saw Mr. Kudzo.
As usual, he gave us a warm greeting and appeared content. It's unbelievable that he's gone. "He was a good man who helped a lot of people in this community," she remarked with tears in her eyes.
Kwame Dela, another resident, revealed that they started to get concerned when they saw that Mr. Kudzo's residence was still shut during the day.
His phone went off when we attempted to call him. We told the cops at that point," he said.
Mr. Kudzo was discovered dead on the floor of the residence when the cops burst in. According to preliminary findings, the attackers may have entered through a smashed back window.
We are handling this as though it were a blatant murder case. Inspector Tetteh gave the people the assurance that "we are working tirelessly to identify the culprits and bring them to justice."
Suspicions of a heist gone wrong were heightened when the police disclosed that several personal belongings, including Mr. Kudzo's laptop and wallet, were missing.
The community is in grief following the untimely death of Mr. Samuel Kudzo, and many are calling on the authorities to act quickly.
