Today, on Mother's Day, President John Dramani Mahama took to Facebook to deliver a heartfelt tribute that touched Ghanaians around the country. In his tweet, he expressed his best wishes to all moms, with a special reference to his Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, who is currently recovering from an illness.
According to presidential sources, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang has been ill for several weeks and is currently undergoing medical attention abroad, most likely in the United Kingdom. Despite her health, President Mahama said that he had visited her earlier in the day.
In his message, the President wrote:
“A special Mother’s Day greeting to my Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, whom I had the pleasure of visiting earlier this morning. She is taking a deserved rest after recovering from illness and looking forward to resuming her duties soon. To her and all Ghanaian mothers, I say Happy Mother’s Day.”
The President's post drew overwhelming praise and passionate replies online. Ghanaians from all walks of life celebrated the Vice President's improved health and praised President Mahama for his compassion and leadership. Many saw the gesture as a demonstration of his deeply ingrained empathy and regard for women, especially on such a special day.

Citizens also used the occasion to offer their own Mother's Day greetings to Professor Opoku-Agyemang and mothers around the country, highlighting their essential contributions to family and nation-building.
