Appiah-Kubi Baidoo, a former parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sefwi Akontombra Constituency of the Western North Region, has resigned from the party. Mr. Baidoo expressed his decision to leave the NPP after years of active service in a letter dated April 16, 2025, sent to the party's Constituency Chairman.
In his resignation letter, Appiah-Kubi Baidoo stated that he made the difficult decision because the party had mistreated him and his personal family over the years. He claimed that after many attempts, including formal written requests to the NPP's national leadership, no action was taken to address his concerns.
He voiced disgust with what he regarded as party officials' negligence, despite years of commitment and hard labor.
Mr. Baidoo praised the party for the opportunity to serve as District Chief Executive and as the NPP's parliamentary candidate for Sefwi Akontombra on three successive times. He also expressed gratitude to the hundreds of fans who have stood by him throughout his political career.

"I sincerely apologise to my supporters and sympathisers who may be affected by my decision, but I believe it is time to move on," he added.

He closed his message by wishing the New Patriotic Party well in its future endeavors.
Copies of the resignation letter were submitted to the NPP's Western North Regional Chairman, the party's National General Secretary, and the media.
Mr. Baidoo's resignation has sparked interest in the constituency, with some political observers expecting it to affect the party's performance in the area ahead of future elections.
