Carlos Queiroz, the head coach of Ghana’s senior men’s national team, the Black Stars, has officially unveiled his final 26-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The carefully selected group is split into three goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, and eight forwards – a balanced mix of experience and youth as Ghana prepares for football’s biggest stage.
Surprises in the Squad
Notable absentees from the final list include Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Paul Reverson and Hearts of Oak shot-stopper Solomon Agbasi. Both had been part of the 28-man pre-tournament camp in Cardiff, Wales, but didn’t make the final cut.
Familiar Faces Leading the Charge
The squad still boasts plenty of firepower. Captain Jordan Ayew (currently without a club), Antoine Semenyo of AFC Bournemouth, Athletic Club’s Inaki Williams, and Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey are among the biggest names set to lead the Black Stars.
Big Names Missing
The confirmed list comes with a shock for Ghanaian fans: the Black Stars will travel to the World Cup without former captain Dede Ayew and star forward Mohammed Kudus. The tournament kicks off on June 11, 2026.
