The public was reassured by Madam Jean Mensa, the chairperson of Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC), that the general elections held on December 7, 2024, were conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.

She made this revelation at the National Collation Centre in Accra when she formally announced the results of the presidential election, according to a report by Citi News Room.

Speaking at the announcement, she clarified that the Commission had succeeded in holding legitimate elections that represented the will of the electorate. She attributed this accomplishment to the Commission's dedication to openness, responsibility, and inclusivity in all aspects of its work.

The EC put a lot of effort into making sure that the elections were peaceful and that each voter's choice was honored at the polls, according to Madam Mensa.

Madam Mensa took delight in the EC's capacity to hold elections that fulfilled Ghanaians' expectations. As the foundation of Ghana's electoral system since 1992, she underlined that the procedure ensured that every vote counted and upheld the voter's decision. The election, she continued, was evidence of the nation's democratic principles, which uphold the sanctity and respect of the popular will.

While acknowledging some of the difficulties encountered prior to the elections, the EC Chair emphasized the untiring efforts of the Commission to guarantee a seamless and well-run polling process. She emphasized that in spite of these obstacles, the Commission was committed to holding a credible election for Ghanaians.

"As a commission, we have achieved our goal of making sure that accountability, transparency, exclusivity, and responsiveness are at the core of all our operations, and I can say with confidence that, with God's help, we have achieved the goals and expectations of the citizens."

"We have successfully held free, fair, transparent, and peaceful elections. elections that have guaranteed the expression of the people's will at the polls.
