GhPage reported on Saturday, 16th August 2025, that a devastating road crash on the Nsawam-Suhum highway resulted in the deaths of all passengers aboard a Ford Transit minibus, plunging the community into grief.
The fatal accident occurred on Saturday morning near Asuboi, a town along the heavily trafficked route. Eyewitnesses stated that the bus, operated by Impel Travels, was en route to Suhum when it crashed just short of its destination. The vehicle was completely wrecked, with no survivors among the passengers. The harrowing scene left onlookers and locals in a state of distress.
While the precise cause remains unclear, initial reports suggest the collision was severe enough to render the bus beyond repair. Some speculate that speeding may have played a role, though authorities have yet to verify this. Police and emergency responders arrived swiftly but found all passengers had already succumbed to their injuries.
Social media images depicted the twisted wreckage surrounded by horrified witnesses. Many at the scene were overcome with emotion, while others urged drivers to exercise greater caution, particularly on the accident-prone Suhum-Nsawam stretch.
Asuboi residents are demanding an official investigation into the crash and stricter safety measures to prevent future tragedies. They attribute the frequent fatal accidents on Ghana’s highways to reckless driving, excessive speed, and a lack of road discipline.
