The National Gendarmerie in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, has received a formal complaint from Cristel Nchama, one of the ladies who is purportedly shown in the pornographic films involving Baltasar Engonga.

Since authorities discovered almost 400 pornographic films during an investigation into suspected fraud, Engonga, the former director-general of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), has been embroiled in a scandal.

The discovery included footage of Engonga with multiple women, among them prominent figures such as his brother’s wife, his cousin, the sister of Equatorial Guinea’s president, the wife of the director-general of police, and numerous ministers’ wives.

The tapes, which purport to show interactions in hotels, Engonga's workplace, and even restrooms, were purportedly recorded with the participants' permission. Cristel revealed in her complaint that she had dated Engonga for four years and that the leaked videos had severely humiliated her.

She claimed that she had first objected to being videotaped and was promised that any recordings would be removed, and she accused him of betraying her. Cristel demanded that Engonga pay her for the harm done to her "reputation and honor," saying, "I am humiliated, it is my reputation, my honor, I want to know where these images came from and why he kept the images."

Engonga was fired from his position on Thursday as part of the government's prompt response to the issue. Officials implicated in similar inappropriate behavior within ministry offices were also suspended by authorities.
