A 65-year-old security officer, Kwabena Boateng, was suffocated to death during a robbery at the De-Bridge One District One Factory (1D1F) facility in Gomoa Akotsi, Central Region.

The attack happened in the early hours of Wednesday, July 2, 2025, when Boateng attempted to prevent thieves from stealing two electricity transformers from the company’s premises.

Police reports indicate that this was the second time Boateng had been targeted by armed assailants. The attackers allegedly bound his hands and legs with rope before placing a polythene bag over his head, leading to his suffocation.

After killing the guard, the suspects dismantled and stole two ECG transformers and several cables before escaping.

The incident has left the community in shock, sparking fears over the safety of industrial facilities and their workers in the area.
