Hours after seizing 53.6 kg of cannabis from another British national, NACOC arrests another British traveler at Kotoka Airport with 17.72 kg of cannabis aboard a BA flight to the UK. Investigations are still going on.

Another British national was arrested by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) for drug trafficking; this time, the arrest was of a female traveler who was trying to carry cannabis out of Ghana aboard a British Airways flight.

The woman was arrested at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) when she was discovered in possession of a luggage that contained 32 slabs of what were believed to be cannabis. The woman was traveling on British Airways aircraft BA 2066 from Accra to Gatwick Airport in the United Kingdom.

A field test with a total weight of 17.72 kg verified the substance's identity as cannabis. Since then, she has undergone processing and been moved to NACOC headquarters for more examinations.

Shortly after a significant cocaine seizure on May 18, when another British national was detained at KIA upon arriving from Thailand via Dubai on Emirates aircraft EK 787, this event occurred. Two suitcases containing 92 slabs of cannabis weighing 53.6 kg were found during that operation.

Two suspected accomplices—a customs officer and a porter from the airport's Commercially Important Person (CIP) section—were arrested after additional investigations into the May 18 case. They were thought to have assisted in the trafficking attempt.

The recent upsurge in drug smuggling efforts highlights the need for law enforcement, airport security, and NACOC to work together more closely.
