Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle and Chair of the Committee on Security and Intelligence, visited Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia Palace on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, who referred to the Asantehene as her uncle, thanked him for his ongoing counsel. She also updated him on her recent activities, particularly her work addressing security challenges in conflict-prone regions of Ghana.
Their discussion highlighted mutual concerns about the well-being of impacted communities and the urgent need for lasting peace. Otumfuo, widely respected for his role in conflict resolution, emphasized the importance of dialogue and culturally sensitive peace-building strategies.
Additionally, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings—who was recently named to Ghana’s delegation to the Pan-African Parliament—shared key takeaways from her meeting with the All Regions Queenmothers’ Association during their visit to Ghana’s Parliament. Their talks centered on women’s leadership, queenmothers’ contributions to peace efforts, and safeguarding Ghana’s cultural legacy. She stressed how such exchanges help connect traditional governance with contemporary political systems.
The visit reinforced the collaborative relationship between Ghana’s traditional and governmental leaders, ending with a commitment to enhance national cohesion, improve security, and empower traditional authorities—particularly queenmothers—in driving inclusive progress.
