The family of Ghanaian highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, famously known as Daddy Lumba, has finalized arrangements for his one-week memorial and funeral.

At a press briefing led by the Abusuapanyin (Family Head) of the Ekuona Royal Family of Nsuta, details were shared: the one-week observance will be held in Accra on Saturday, August 30, 2025, while the final funeral rites will take place in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.

The family head explained that the decision followed a formal visit to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to notify him of Daddy Lumba’s passing. “Upon informing Otumfuo, he emphasized Daddy Lumba’s royal status,” the family head stated.

This royal connection influenced the arrangements—while the one-week event will be in Accra for public convenience, the funeral must be held in Kumasi, where his body will be presented to the Asantehene in keeping with tradition.

Additionally, the family plans to notify the Ga Mantse in Accra as part of customary protocols, ensuring all necessary respects are observed.
