A horrible accident in Tanokrom, Takoradi, has left people shocked after a man was crushed to death by a trailer on the morning of Eid al-Adha. The unfortunate incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025, near the Tanokrom Pipeano traffic light.

According to accounts, a trailer hauling lumber was traveling from Tanokrom to Fijai when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The trailer collided with a passenger minibus, sometimes known as a "trotro," which was heading from Takoradi to Kojokrom.

The trotro driver, Nkansah Kyerematen, detailed what transpired. He stated that barely a few meters before the traffic signal, he noticed the trailer reversing wildly towards his vehicle. In an attempt to avoid being hit, he swerved, but his trotro collided with another car behind him. Moments later, the trailer collided with his vehicle.

"All my passengers started running for their lives after my mate forced the door open," he said with sadness. "Later, eyewitnesses told me that one of the passengers tried to escape through the door but was unfortunately run over by the trailer and died."

Paa Kwesi Simpson, a journalist with Connect FM, arrived on the site early and called the Ghana National Fire Service. The firefighters arrived and managed to raise the trailer, allowing the victim's body to be evacuated.

The deceased guy has been identified as Mr. Bonnah, a businessman from Asankragwa. His relatives revealed that he had recently finished his new home in Apowa and had moved in the day before with his newlywed wife and their two-month-old child. He was on his way to Kojokrom to purchase tiles for his new home when the disaster occurred.

The deceased has been transported to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Morgue, and police from the Sekondi-Takoradi MTTD are investigating the incident.
