Near New Jejeti, a fully loaded fuel tanker caught fire, narrowly preventing a major catastrophe on the Accra-Kumasi route.
A tanker registered GT 6870-24, transporting an estimated 54,000 liters of fuel, was involved in the Monday incident.
Although the exact cause of the fire is unknown, witnesses stated that the car lost its balance and landed on its side, which is how the fire started.
The Anyinam Fire Station staff hurried to the area after receiving the emergency call.
Firefighters rapidly seized control of the situation after arriving, using cooling measures and keeping a tight eye on the tanker to avoid an explosion.
Their prompt and well-coordinated action put out the fire before it could become a fatal one.
Since then, the Ghana National Fire Service has received praise for their prompt action, which averted a possible catastrophe and guaranteed the security of local residents and commuters.
