A tragic head-on collision between a Toyota Hiace and a Ford Transit on the Accra-Aflao Highway near God’s Love Herbal Clinic at MotherKope has resulted in the deaths of thirteen passengers. The early-morning crash, which occurred on a hilly stretch of the road, also left eighteen other individuals injured. The Hiace, registered as GX 3186-20, was en route from Accra to Aflao, while the Ford Transit, with plate number GW 5558-23, was traveling in the opposite direction. According to a media briefing by DO II Ebenezer Yenzu, the PRO for the Tema Regional GNFS, the Ford Transit reportedly veered into the side of the Hiace, causing severe damage that mangled the front and rear doors of the smaller vehicle. The Hiace driver was among the wounded. Firefighters from Sege responded swiftly to a 5:58 a.m. distress call, arriving within eight minutes to begin extrication. They successfully freed eighteen trapped passengers, who were initially taken to Sege Polyclinic; some were later transferred to the Ada East District Hospital for more advanced care. Following the rescue, crews cleared the wreckage and cleaned the road to ensure traffic flow returned to normal.
