Former MP Questions Extravagant $100K Watch Purchase Amid NSS Scandal
Former Ablekuma Central MP Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey has publicly challenged ex-NSS Deputy Director Gifty Oware-Mensah's alleged purchase of a $100,000 luxury watch. During a Joy Prime interview, he demanded: "Who buys a watch at that price unless to show off? If true, this is the same as flaunting an expensive bag. With that money, I'd rather build a CHPS compound to serve my community."
Nartey highlighted the irony of such spending while many struggle with basic needs: "Some staff skip work for days simply because they lack transport fare."
This criticism follows explosive revelations from Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine that Oware-Mensah allegedly:
Used NSS allowances as collateral for a GH¢30.7 million ADB loan
Masterminded a scheme registering "Blocks of Life Consult" without consent of named directors
Enlisted her husband to pose as a company representative, falsely claiming it supplied appliances to service personnel
The AG's report further exposes:
Oware-Mensah's involvement in diverting allowances to 81,885 ghost service personnel
A staggering GH¢548 million siphoned through NSS under the previous administration
A completed investigation docket now before the AG's office
Dr. Ayine characterized the former NSA's operations as "a criminal enterprise systematically looting public funds."
