Ghanaian film and media brand FORDMOTIONS has introduced a new reality filmmaking competition dubbed THE FILMMAKER, aimed at providing a platform for emerging filmmakers and creative talents.

The initiative, founded by filmmaker Princeford Darah, brings together creatives from different areas of the film industry to compete through a series of filmmaking challenges.

THE FILMMAKER is being produced by FORDMOTIONS in partnership with Ewe24 TV.

The competition will require contestants to create short films under different creative conditions while demonstrating their storytelling, creativity and filmmaking skills.

Participants will include filmmakers, directors, producers, writers, cinematographers, editors, actors, students, film houses and other creative teams.

How THE FILMMAKER will work

Unlike competitions that focus mainly on completed films, THE FILMMAKER will allow audiences to follow the creative process as contestants respond to challenges and work under pressure.

Contestants will be expected to develop stories and produce short films based on the tasks given to them during the competition.

Audience participation will also form part of the programme, with viewers expected to vote for contestants they support.

The competition is open to creatives from Ghana and beyond.

Participants will also have the opportunity to tell their stories in either English or Ewe.

Princeford Darah behind FORDMOTIONS

FORDMOTIONS was founded by filmmaker Princeford Darah and focuses on various aspects of film production.

These include directing, cinematography, camera operation, editing, screenwriting and producing.

The platform seeks to create opportunities for emerging creatives to develop their skills, experiment with storytelling and gain exposure within the film industry.

Through THE FILMMAKER, the organisers hope to provide another platform for young and emerging filmmakers to showcase their abilities.
