The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, has officially announced the passing of Mr. Davis Frimpong-Manso, a third-year student of Logistics and Transport Management, in a statement released on Friday, April 11, 2025.

According to the University Relations Office, “Mr Frimpong-Manso slumped on the premises of his hostel in the early hours of Wednesday, 09 April, 2025 and was rushed to the Tarkwa Municipal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.”

The statement further noted that “the family of the deceased has since been notified and the body handed over by the hospital to the family for the necessary burial arrangements.”

UMaT expressed deep sorrow over the incident and urged the public to be cautious about spreading unverified information.

“The University urges the public to refrain from peddling unsubstantiated claims about the cause of death and respect the privacy of the bereaved family.”

The University Relations Office concluded the release by saying, “Management mourns the tragic loss of Mr Davis Frimpong-Manso and commiserates with the bereaved family and loved ones"
