The United Patriotic Elephant Movement (UPEM) has urged New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters to stop blaming 2024 Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the party’s election defeat.
In a statement, UPEM described such accusations as divisive and against the party’s democratic principles.
They emphasized that Dr. Bawumia has every right to run again, citing past leaders like Prof. Adu Boahen, John Agyekum Kufuor, and Nana Akufo-Addo, who lost elections but later won.
The group warned against attempts to undermine the party’s democratic traditions by discouraging candidates from contesting.
UPEM called for unity, urging supporters to respect the Election Review Committee’s process instead of engaging in blame games.
The group emphasized unity, urging clean campaigns free of personal attacks, so the party can rally behind its 2028 Flagbearer and recapture power.
UPEM is calling on all party faithful to remain calm and focused, avoiding any actions that could undermine our party's UNITY. We must work together to ensure our party emerges stronger and more UNITED than ever.

“We owe this to ourselves, our party, and the good people of Ghana. We stand for the UNITY, PEACE and PROGRESS of our great fraternity, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and our homeland Ghana”

SIGNED,
United Patriotic Elephant Movement (UPEM).
