A respected healthcare leader and long-serving member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), Pharm Dr. Naana Afia Aboagye-Asare, has unveiled her five-point agenda as she seeks election as President of the Society in its upcoming elections scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2025, in Accra.
Presenting what she calls the “BOLD SHIFT” Agenda, Dr. Aboagye-Asare said her vision is to reposition pharmacy as a central force in Ghana’s healthcare system while improving welfare, job opportunities, and unity within the profession.
“Pharmacy is not broken. It is ready. It only needs the BOLD SHIFT,” she declared.
The Five Thematic Areas of the “BOLD SHIFT”
A BOLD SHIFT in Image – Elevating pharmacy from a “quiet corner” of healthcare to a bold, central force in shaping national health.
A BOLD SHIFT in Job Opportunities – Expanding opportunities and ensuring pharmacists receive the jobs, respect, and rewards they deserve.
A BOLD SHIFT in Welfare – Guaranteeing pharmacists true security through fair pay, health insurance, and professional support.
A BOLD SHIFT in Youth Empowerment – Mentorship and leadership training for young pharmacists, recognizing them as leaders of today.
A BOLD SHIFT in Unity & Influence – Bringing together all pharmacist groups and voices under one united banner to strengthen advocacy.
Dr. Aboagye-Asare also underscored the historic nature of her candidacy, aiming to become the first female President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.
A Call to Action
She urged pharmacists nationwide to rally behind her agenda, promising reforms that would strengthen pharmaceutical care for the public while enhancing the profession’s appeal.
“This is about making our profession attractive and enviable. I am calling on every pharmacist to vote for the BOLD SHIFT we need to transform our Society and our nation’s healthcare,” she appealed.
