In a display of strong community spirit, the KGL Foundation has organised a free health screening and blood donation exercise in Dambai, the capital of the Oti Region.
A large turnout marked the event, with residents of the Dambai community and students from the Dambai College of Education participating. In total, over 500 people took part in the exercise.
The initiative forms part of the Foundation’s efforts to give back to society. Blood collected during the exercise will be donated to the Worawora Government Hospital to support and strengthen its blood bank.
Programme Manager of the KGL Foundation, Nii Ankonu Annorba-Sarpei, reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of people in Dambai and across Ghana.
He emphasised the importance of regular health check-ups and physical exercise, noting that the initiative was particularly significant as it was the Foundation’s first major outreach in the newly created Oti Region.
He added that although such free health screening programmes are costly to organise, the Foundation continues to provide them at no cost to support individuals who may not be able to afford routine medical checks.
Beneficiaries had their vital signs—including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight, and blood sugar—checked. They also underwent eye examinations and received medical counselling and education from health professionals from the Worawora Government Hospital.
Residents expressed gratitude to the Foundation, describing the exercise as timely and impactful. Some called for the programme to be held regularly, noting that busy schedules often prevent them from accessing routine healthcare services.
