Ghanaian songstress and activist Ranaya Pappoe, known in the showbiz circles as Shatana has sparked powerful conversations about African identity and self-belief following a passionate message delivered at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum.
In a video sighted by Virgin Blogger, Shatana is seen kneeling before the statue of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President, as she delivers a bold statement about the misrepresentation of African heritage.
According to Shatana, it is time for Africans to reject the long-standing notion that our ancestors were evil a narrative, she claims, was imposed by colonial forces to strip Africans of their pride and connection to their roots.
“Our ancestors are not evil as the white man made us believe,” she declared.
She further called for unity and self-belief among African nations, urging the continent to rise beyond mental slavery and embrace the greatness within its history and people.
“Africa must rise up and unite. We must believe in our own selves,” she said, echoing the pan-African dreams of Dr. Nkrumah.
Shatana’s message has since been widely shared and praised, resonating with many who believe the time for a mental and cultural reawakening in Africa is now.
