General Secretary the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) Jerry Owusu Appauh has strongly criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for what he describes as an oppressive and dangerous agenda against Ghana’s democratic institutions.
Reacting to President John Mahama’s recent removal of the Chief Justice, Jerry Owusu Appauh emphasized the need to uphold the rule of law and the independence of state institutions.
"We have enjoyed stable democracy since 1992," Jerry stated, "and any allegations against the Chief Justice must be thoroughly investigated before any sanctions are considered.
The woman should be allowed to work without undue political pressure."
He accused John Mahama of seeking to manipulate the system for personal gain, claiming that Mahama is working to remove key officials such as the Chief Justice and the Electoral Commission Chair in a bid to influence the 2028 elections.
"John Mahama has no constitutional mandate for a third presidential term," Jerry Owusu said.
His attempts to alter the constitution and fill vital positions with NDC loyalists threaten the very fabric of our democracy."
Jerry called on all Ghanaians to resist any form of oppression and defend the independence of democratic institutions.
