Huawei Technologies Ghana has donated 100 Huawei MatePad tablets to Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary in the Eastern Region to support the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The donation forms part of Huawei's efforts to promote digital inclusion and strengthen ICT education across Ghana.
The tablets are expected to provide students with greater access to practical ICT learning tools, helping them develop digital skills while enhancing the overall teaching and learning experience at the school.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Headmaster of Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Opoku Ohene, expressed appreciation to Huawei for supporting the school's digital education agenda.
He assured the company that the tablets would be used effectively to improve students' learning outcomes and serve as a valuable resource in advancing digital education at the school.
Rev. Fr. Ohene also called on other technology firms to emulate Huawei's example by supporting efforts to expand digitalisation in Ghana's education sector.
The Head of Business Environment at Huawei Ghana, Julia Qiu, said the donation reflects the company's commitment to promoting inclusive ICT education and supporting the development of digital skills among young people.
She encouraged students to make good use of the devices, noting that access to technology creates opportunities for learning, innovation and personal growth.
According to her, Huawei will continue to invest in initiatives that enhance digital inclusion and support technology-driven education in Ghana.
Over the years, Huawei has implemented several programmes aimed at promoting digital skills development, including the Women in Tech, ICT Academy and Seeds for the Future initiatives.
The company said the donation to Pope John Senior High School forms part of its broader efforts to bridge the digital divide and equip students with the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
