The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ayawaso East, Mr. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim, has highlighted sanitation, infrastructure, and youth development as major priorities in the Assembly’s 2026–2029 Medium Term Development Plan.

Speaking at a town hall meeting and public hearing held at the National Mosque Conference Hall in Kanda on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, the MCE explained that the plan is designed to address pressing challenges within the municipality while laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth.

According to him, drug abuse and sanitation remain some of the biggest concerns in the municipality.

He revealed that the Assembly is working closely with opinion leaders, youth groups, and community-based organizations to reduce drug-related activities and to promote healthy lifestyles among young people.

On sanitation, Mr. Ganiyu announced the rollout of intensified clean-up exercises, including the introduction of monthly National Sanitation Day activities across all 11 electoral areas.

Every quarter, each electoral area will embark on its own sanitation drive to ensure our environment is clean and safe,” he emphasized.

He further disclosed that the Assembly is also embarking on road improvement projects to ease transportation within the municipality.

Residents, he said, will be able to follow updates on the Assembly’s official website and social media platforms.

Mr. Ganiyu encouraged stakeholders to support the plan, stressing that collective action is key to achieving a cleaner, safer, and more developed Ayawaso East.

The meeting was attended by community members, Assembly staff, and dignitaries.
