Latvian folk music innovators Auli and Ghanaian soul sensation Abiana have released a bold new collaborative project titled Voices of Ghana. Officially launched on May 26, 2025, the EP brings together Baltic and West African music traditions in a powerful fusion of sound and storytelling.

This release is the latest chapter in Auli’s Voices of the Ancestors series, which began in 2019 and has featured vocalists from Mongolia, Austria, and Norway. Voices of Ghana marks the series’ first African collaboration, facilitated by Ghana’s leading music distributor, Apprise Music.

A Celebration of Heritage and Harmony- According to Kaspars Barbals, Auli’s founding member and producer, the goal was clear: "We wanted to showcase the beauty of traditional singing from across the globe. Abiana’s voice brought Ghana’s rich heritage into the spotlight in a whole new way."

Abiana, whose music blends Soul, Highlife, and Neo-Soul, delivers emotional and expressive vocals across the project. Her acclaimed debut single Adun Lei (2020) earned her a Best Female Vocal Performance award at the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

In Voices of Ghana, she reimagines traditional Ghanaian folk songs, accompanied by Auli’s signature bagpipes and powerful percussion. The sound is immersive, rhythmic, and emotionally rich — a global musical journey that feels both ancient and new.
Music Meets Education and Impact

Beyond the music, the collaboration includes a cultural and educational component. Abiana participates in interviews, workshops, and showcases, where she explores Ghana’s singing traditions and vocal storytelling techniques.

This approach not only celebrates heritage but also strengthens ties between continents through creative exchange.
Global Reach, Local Roots

Distributed in Africa by Apprise Music and internationally by Catapult Distribution, the Voices of Ghana EP is now available on all major streaming platforms. The release includes high-quality formats like Dolby Atmos to ensure a top-tier listening experience on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, TikTok, and more.

Michael Bamfo, CEO of Apprise Music, explained: "This is more than an album. It’s a cultural project that connects people through music, education, and innovation. It reflects our mission to bring African sounds to a global audience."

Since their founding in 2003, Auli has been reshaping Latvian traditional music. The group is known for breathing new life into nearly forgotten instruments like the Latvian bagpipe. With Voices of Ghana, they continue that mission on a global scale.
