Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, founder of the Life Assembly Worship Center and a former presidential candidate, has disclosed that he celebrated Kennedy Agyapong’s defeat in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearership election by popping champagne.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the outspoken clergyman expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the contest, arguing that Agyapong lacked the temperament and leadership qualities required to head a political party or govern the country.
Kyiri Abosom criticized the former Assin Central Member of Parliament’s conduct during the campaign period, describing his remarks about party members as inappropriate and inconsistent with the character expected of a national leader. He questioned how a candidate who openly accused members of his own party of corruption and dishonesty could expect their support.

He questioned how a candidate who openly accused members of his own party of corruption and dishonesty could expect their support.
“I popped champagne after Kennedy Agyapong lost the presidential primary. I was filled with joy and prayed for all those who voted against him,” he said. “He went about describing his own party members as corrupt and thieves. Kennedy Agyapong is not someone fit to be elected as a candidate, let alone a president. He even described the members as senseless, and yet he wanted them to elect him as the candidate to represent them.”
He further praised party delegates for their decision, urging Agyapong to reflect on the outcome.
“The delegates of the party have done so well, and I commend them for voting against him. He should learn lessons from what has happened. He will certainly go into retirement from political activities,” Kyiri Abosom added.
His comments come amid continued reactions from political figures and observers following the NPP’s internal elections, which have reshaped the party’s leadership ahead of the next general elections.
