Former Assistant Secretary to ex-President Nana Akufo-Addo, Ibrahim Adjei, has called on the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers and other Ghanaian entrepreneurs to fully embrace digital tools to promote recent price reductions and improve customer outreach.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Monday, May 19, Adjei described the Spare Parts Dealers Association’s decision to cut prices as a positive move, but stressed that effective communication is crucial to making it impactful.

“It is a welcome call, but it’s for the individuals at Abossey Okai to take heed,” he said. “Those who are smart enough to lower their prices and communicate it well will benefit.”

Adjei advised dealers to leverage social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) to advertise their products, prices, and locations directly to consumers. He noted that digital visibility would make it easier for potential buyers to trust sellers and complete transactions remotely.

“Go to the social media space and say: I am selling this part at this price. Here is my location. Tag your location so people can access you. If I trust you, I can send an Okada to pick up the item and make the payment,” he explained.

The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association announced the price cuts on May 18, attributing the move to the recent appreciation of the Ghana cedi under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama. The Association said the decision was aimed at easing the financial burden on consumers and supporting the government’s economic recovery efforts.

Adjei encouraged all entrepreneurs, not just in the auto parts sector, to use digital marketing to highlight price advantages, saying it could give them a competitive edge and drive faster sales.

“Use the digital space to outdo your competitors. When you communicate your reductions clearly and offer convenience, you will see more patronage,” he concluded.

The push for digital engagement aligns with broader calls for economic modernization and entrepreneurial innovation in Ghana.
