Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has surprised fans with a fresh new look, ditching his signature thick hair for a neat lowcut.
His new hairstyle caught the attention of dancehall star Shatta Wale at a recent event, where the latter appeared visibly puzzled by the drastic change.
In a viral video, Shatta Wale was seen staring at Sarkodie in surprise, as the rapper seemingly explained his new style.
Sarkodie, who was known for his thick hair with a fade on the sides, has now opted for a much shorter cut. His new style features lightly trimmed hair in the middle, a subtle fade on the sides, and a curved line at the corner. Additionally, he has shaved off his signature goatee, keeping only a small mustache.
Both musicians attended the event in black outfits, with Shatta Wale completing his look with a cap.
While the haircut itself has sparked reactions, many social media users were even more surprised to see Sarkodie and Shatta Wale in a friendly interaction, given their history of conflicts.
The two artists have had a rocky relationship over the years. In 2018, Sarkodie responded to Shatta Wale’s criticism with a diss track titled "My Advice," strongly calling out the dancehall star.
After the song, Sarkodie distanced himself from Shatta Wale, explaining that he found the dancehall artist’s social media comments disrespectful and would have preferred private conversations instead of public criticism.
Shatta Wale, however, insisted that their rivalry was just part of the entertainment industry, claiming their back-and-forth actually benefited them both.
At one point, Shatta Wale even accused Sarkodie of being a hypocrite, after the rapper congratulated him on his collaboration with Beyoncé. Shatta Wale suggested the praise was not genuine.
Now, with their unexpected friendly moment and Sarkodie's new look, fans are speculating whether this signals a new chapter in their relationship.
