President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana will airlift exactly 5,000 pilgrims to Mecca for the 2025 Hajj.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Hajj Village on Friday, February 28, President Mahama stressed the importance of adhering to the set payment deadline and ensuring proper arrangements.

“This year, we intend to airlift exactly 5,000 pilgrims to the holy land, and the task force has announced March 13 as the deadline for payment,” he stated.

To facilitate a smooth process, the government has arranged a pre-financing agreement with a local bank to cover deposits for accommodation, transportation, and other essential services.

The President also directed the Hajj Task Force to enforce the 5,000-pilgrim limit, preventing last-minute rushes and logistical challenges.

“I’ve instructed the task force to cut off at exactly 5,000. We don’t want a repeat of past situations where late payments led to complications,” he emphasized.

With these measures in place, authorities aim to ensure a well-organized and seamless pilgrimage for Ghanaian Muslims traveling to Mecca.
