The eight-member committee tasked with organizing Ghana’s National Education Dialogue has officially submitted its final report to President John Dramani Mahama, detailing a comprehensive set of 212 recommendations aimed at reforming the country’s education system.
Led by Professor George K. T. Oduro, former Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, the committee’s report spans 148 pages and draws on input from stakeholders, surveys, and educational experts across the country.
Presenting the report, Prof. Oduro broke down the recommendations as follows:
• Basic Education – 31
• Free SHS Policy – 19
• TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) – 27
• Tertiary Education – 29
• Cross-cutting issues on Quality Education – 77
• Sustainable Financing – 7
• Accountability and Governance – 13
• Research & Use of Data and Evidence – 5
• Partnerships with Faith-Based Organisations – 4
“These recommendations represent the voices and aspirations of Ghanaians across the education landscape,” Prof. Oduro said. He further highlighted that the document includes expert guidance to help shape the future of education in Ghana.
President Mahama is expected to review the report and chart a roadmap for implementing key reforms to improve access, quality, equity, and sustainability in Ghana’s education sector.
