The Ghanaian entertainment industry is mourning the sudden death of veteran disc jockey Samuel Tei Mensah Nartey, widely known as DJ Awana, who passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the 37 Military Hospital after battling an undisclosed illness.

The news, confirmed in a statement by Adom FM, where DJ Awana was a beloved figure, has left colleagues, fans, and media personalities in deep shock. DJ Awana began his radio journey in 2003 at Adom FM, later moving to Oman FM in 2007, before returning to the Multimedia Group to join Hitz FM.
