One of Ghana’s most respected entrepreneurs, Dr. Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, has reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship with a bold message to the people of the Volta Region: the future of business in Ghana can rise from the region.
On March 7, the Founder and CEO of the McDan Group joined dignitaries, youth leaders, and aspiring entrepreneurs at the launch of the Volta Youth Development Fund in Ho. His presence signaled more than ceremonial support, it marked a clear intention to invest in the next generation of entrepreneurs from the region.
During the launch, Dr. McKorley donated GHS 200,000.00 to the fund and pledged to make annual contributions to support young people with entrepreneurial ambitions as the brand is already doing a lot in the region. His message to the youth was clear and powerful: the McDan brand is for the streets, and it exists to uplift determined young people who are ready to build businesses and transform their communities.

Speaking passionately during his address, Dr. McKorley emphasized that the Volta Region possesses immense human capital, which, when nurtured properly, can produce some of Ghana’s most successful entrepreneurs.
“Volta Region has the human capital, and the McDan brand is here to invest and help create the next entrepreneurs,” he said.
His message resonated strongly with the young audience, many of whom see him as a symbol of resilience and possibility. Dr. McKorley reminded them that his own journey started from humble beginnings.
“I know your story. I can feel it, because I was once a driver’s mate,” he shared, drawing applause from the crowd.
Following the launch event at the Ho Auditorium, a group of prepared and determined young entrepreneurs approached the business mogul with business proposals and questions in what became an impromptu standing meeting.
The interaction highlighted the eagerness of the region’s youth to build sustainable enterprises and Dr. McKorley’s willingness to listen and support them.
Observers noted that the exchange was more than symbolic; it demonstrated a genuine commitment by the McDan brand to mentor, inspire, and invest in promising ideas from the region.
Dr. McKorley also made it clear that his doors remain open to young innovators who are serious about their ambitions.
Entrepreneurs with viable ideas, proposals, and determination, he said, will find a willing partner in the McDan brand, one ready to help transform vision into reality.
For Samuel Etornam Kwasi Lavoe, who led the group, Engr. Viglo and many young people in the Volta Region, the message was both motivational and reassuring: the path to entrepreneurship is possible with dedication, creativity, and the right support.
With the McDan brand signaling its readiness to invest, the launch of the Volta Youth Development Fund could mark the beginning of a new era of youth-driven enterprise in the region.
As Dr. McKorley put it, the mission is simple but powerful: to inspire, invest in, and create the next entrepreneurs from the streets to the global stage.
