On his first day of work, Chief Director Ramses Joseph Cleland formally welcomed Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Ghana's recently appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Ghana's diplomatic operations under the direction of a highly experienced official enter an exciting new phase.

The appointment coincides with Ghana's growing significance in international affairs.

Developing the nation's connections with other countries will be a major responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the nation continues to establish itself as a major actor on the international scene.

A well-known person in Ghana's diplomatic community, Ramses Joseph Cleland, welcomed the Foreign Minister with open arms when he arrived.

The significance of this shift and the solidarity and cooperation that are central to Ghana's foreign policy are reflected in Cleland's welcome and presence.

Managing the nation's foreign affairs, including establishing new alliances and bolstering current ones, is a critical responsibility of the foreign minister.

It is anticipated that under Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey's direction, Ghana's diplomatic interests will be furthered, particularly in Africa and internationally.

She is renowned for her expertise and has already significantly improved Ghana's foreign relations while serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Addressing global issues including trade talks, peacekeeping missions, and climate change would be among her key concerns.

As a key member of the government, she will work closely with Ghana’s representatives at the United Nations, the African Union, and other international organizations to advance national interests.

In addition to her diplomatic responsibilities, Botchwey will also be involved in addressing critical issues such as Ghana’s regional security and economic development.
