The businessman-turned-politician Baba Sadiq is unwavering in the face of contradictory reports about the results of the parliamentary elections in Okaikwei Central.
Sadiq announced his victory hours after the voting ended, claiming his collation numbers that showed he received 21,303 votes (52% of legitimate ballots) compared to 18,951 votes (47.08%) from NPP incumbent Patrick Yaw Boamah.
Conversely, several media sources predicted that the NPP candidate would win, claiming that Patrick Yaw Boamah received 20,229 votes, surpassing Sadiq, who supposedly received 18,783.
In response to the uproar, Baba Sadiq questioned the veracity and source of the forecasts, dismissing them as a mere media blitz.
According to him, his figures are based on legitimate pink sheets from polling places and continue to accurately represent the will of the electorate.
"I maintain that we have won and that we are confident in the attached data. "Hon. PYB ought to have the forbearance to concede defeat and preserve some of his standing as a three-term lawmaker," Sadiq said firmly.
As both sides wait for an official announcement from the Electoral Commission to end the discussion, the constituency is on edge due to the apparent disparity in results.
