Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the former minority leader and member of parliament for the Tamale South Constituency, has confirmed the death of his mother, Hajia Mariama.
In a heartbreaking Facebook post, Dr. Seidu Fiter, a respected Ghanaian physician and close friend of the family, shared the tragic news.
In his condolence letter, Dr. Fiter recalled the soul of the late Hajia Mariama and said, "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un." “To Him we belong and unto Him we shall return” captures the profound grief experienced by the Iddrisu family and everyone who knew Hajia Mariama.
Dr. Fiter's tweet states that Hajia Mariama passed away after a protracted illness at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, where she was undergoing treatment.
She died in spite of the attempts to save her, but she left behind a legacy of love and loyalty to her family.
Hajia Mariama's body will be taken to Tamale for burial, the family announced in their notification. We will soon announce the precise time and place of the burial.
In the tearful statement, the family conveyed their deep sadness.
"We would like to announce the passing of Hajia Mariama Alidu, widow of Iddrisu Sakabnaa, on behalf of Waribogu Lana Buhari, Zogulana Sumani, Wayamba Naa Abdulai, Lamashenaa, Alhaji Ibrahim Mahama, Nyashenaa, and Wayamba Tandana. The mother of Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu Zugu Sakabnaa, Dr. Sulemana Iddrisu, and Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, the former Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South Constituency. Today, the burial will take place. May the soul of our beloved mother rest in the Bosom of the Almighty Allah,” the family said.
