Former Ghanaian football star Sulley Muntari has been spotted walking through the streets of Accra, making a rare public appearance that has sparked excitement among Ghanaians.
According to YEN, In a video circulating on social media, Muntari is seen dressed casually in shorts, a t-shirt, and a cap, engrossed in his phone as he walks past a crowd. The retired midfielder kept a straight face while onlookers watched him intently, seemingly in awe of the football icon.
Muntari, known for his low-profile lifestyle, rarely makes public appearances, making the sighting even more intriguing to fans. Social media users quickly reacted to the viral footage, with some praising his simplicity despite his immense football success.
Sulley Muntari is widely respected in the football world for his illustrious career. He began his professional journey at Liberty Professionals, one of Ghana’s top football academies. His exceptional talent earned him a move to Italy in 2001, where he joined Udinese in the Serie A.
His career flourished as he went on to play for top European clubs, including Inter Milan, AC Milan, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Deportivo La Coruña, and Pescara. During his time at inter Milan, Muntari won the prestigious UEFA Champions League under José Mourinho in the historic 2010 treble-winning season.
After years of playing abroad, Muntari returned to Ghana to sign with Accra Hearts of Oak, where he brought leadership and experience to the squad before retiring from professional football.
Muntari’s international career was just as remarkable. He represented Ghana in multiple Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments and played in three FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010, and 2014), cementing his status as one of the nation’s football legends
