Sad News: Tragic Accident on Akosombo-Tema Highway Claims Eight Lives, Including One-Month-Old Baby

A tragic accident on the Akosombo-Tema highway in the early hours of Monday, February 24, 2025, has claimed the lives of eight passengers, including a one-month-old baby. The heartbreaking crash occurred around 5:40 a.m. and left six others in critical condition.

The accident involved a passenger vehicle traveling from Kpone to Madina in Accra. According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the passenger car attempted to overtake a Man Diesel truck loaded with yams, which was heading from Bamdai to Accra. Unfortunately, in the process of overtaking, the driver lost control and crashed into the back of the truck.

The impact of the collision caused the passenger vehicle to somersault multiple times before coming to a stop. Eight people, including the infant, died instantly, while six others sustained severe injuries. The injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

Residents in the area were left in shock as they arrived at the scene, witnessing the devastating aftermath of the crash. Many expressed their sorrow over the loss of lives, particularly that of the innocent baby. The sight of lifeless bodies scattered across the accident scene left many in distress.

Emergency services and the police arrived to assess the situation and assist in transporting the injured victims to the hospital. Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Road users are urged to exercise caution and prioritize safety to avoid such unfortunate incidents. The entire nation mourns the loss of these innocent lives, and condolences pour in for the families of the deceased.
