Edmond Kombat is the new Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), which was appointed by President John Mahama.
His nomination is generally seen as a calculated move to revitalize the business, which has recently had severe operational and financial difficulties.
With a wealth of oil and energy industry experience, Edmond Kombat is well-positioned to lead the refinery back to stability in his new post.
Formerly an essential part of Ghana's industrial structure, TOR has suffered from inefficiencies that have made it more difficult for it to supply energy requirements both locally and regionally.
Taking the lead in restructuring and modernizing the refinery's operations will be his main duty. In order to obtain the technological know-how and much-needed funding for TOR's resurrection, he is also anticipated to look for private-sector collaborations.
