On Easter Saturday, Akyem Asamankese in the Eastern Region came alive with a sea of bright shirts and smiling faces as the town's youth, elders, chiefs, and security personnel joined forces for a community-wide health walk. The "Easter Fest Health Walk," organized by the Meboafo Foundation, aimed to promote physical wellbeing, social cohesion, and preventive health.

The event, led by local youth leaders and sponsored by the Meboafo Foundation, featured fitness sessions, nutrition workshops, and free health screenings at Asamankese, in front of Be Kind Supermarket. Dr. Emmanuel Obiri emphasized that the initiative sought to make fitness accessible to all, regardless of age or economic status. "The Easter walk gave us a chance to showcase that a simple activity like walking, when done together, can transform lives."

Security personnel from the Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Fire Service, Ghana Police Service, and Ghana Customs Excise and Preventive Service showed solidarity by marching alongside the crowd, highlighting collaboration between civil society and law enforcement. One representative noted, "Our duty extends beyond border control. By engaging in community health activities, we build trust with the people we serve and encourage a safer, healthier environment for all."

The Meboafo Foundation covered logistical costs, providing water stations, first-aid tents, and a mobile clinic staffed by doctors from Asamankese Hospital. Foundation Director Dr. Obiri was pleased with the turnout, exceeding expectations with over 1,500 participants. "The enthusiasm we witnessed today is a testament to the community's readiness to embrace healthier lifestyles. We'll continue to support such initiatives and hope to see a regular health walk calendar for Akyem Asamankese."
