Charles Yeboah Darko has been officially confirmed as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, following a unanimous endorsement by Assembly Members during a recent electoral exercise.

The event, held in the heart of the municipality, was attended by dignitaries including the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, the NDC Regional Chairman, Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor, the consistency chairman Sadidi Mohammad, other regional executives and all constituency and branch executives. The confirmation marks a significant step forward in strengthening local governance and driving development in Abuakwa North.

Delivering a keynote address on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, Adjei Awatey praised the Assembly Members for their commitment to good governance and urged them to support the newly confirmed MCE in achieving the municipality’s development goals. “The nominee before you today has been carefully selected based on merit, competence, loyalty, and an unflinching commitment to serve this municipality,” she said.

She further stressed the importance of strong and effective local leadership in realizing the President’s national development agenda, which focuses on economic stability, infrastructure expansion, and deepening decentralization. “We cannot afford delays. We cannot afford divisions,” she emphasized, calling for a “one-touch” confirmation.

With unanimous support from the Assembly Members, Charles Yeboah Darko begins his tenure amid high expectations. Traditional authorities, local department heads, and other stakeholders expressed confidence in his ability to lead. “His track record speaks for itself,” one stakeholder noted. “We believe he will bring about real change.”

Charles Yeboah Darko’s confirmation is not just a personal achievement—it represents a collective commitment to advancing governance and development in Abuakwa North.
