More than four hundred widows in the Abuakwa North Constituency lit up with joy today as the Bread & Bounty Foundation, led by philanthropist and social advocate Mrs. Dorcia Nana Afoa Addo-Frempong, distributed food and care packages at the New Tafo Presby Hall.
The humanitarian event, held as part of the foundation’s annual outreach programme, saw beneficiaries receive hot meals, essential groceries, and modest gift items, all donated through the efforts of the US-based foundation with branches operating across Ghana.
Mrs. Addo-Frempong, wife of Hon. Nana Kwame Addo-Frempong Ampaw — popularly known as Chief Buffalo and Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North — revealed that the foundation was born out of a deep personal conviction to uplift vulnerable women and children.
“We wanted to put a smile on the faces of widows who often feel forgotten,” she told reporters during the event. “When I observed the loneliness and struggles many of them go through — especially after the passing of my father-in-law — I noticed how deeply my mother-in-law was affected. That moment inspired me to act. I decided to form the Bread & Bounty Foundation to ensure that no widow feels alone in her grief.”

Volunteers from the foundation worked tirelessly throughout the morning, serving meals and distributing care packages filled with rice, canned goods, toiletries, and other household essentials. Laughter and tears of gratitude filled the hall as widows embraced the gesture as both practical support and emotional affirmation.

Mrs. Addo emphasized that today’s event marks just the beginning. “Because my husband represents this constituency, we chose to begin here. But we plan to extend this programme to other towns and communities across the region in the coming months,” she said, outlining the foundation’s broader vision for national impact.
Her husband, Hon. Nana Kwame Addo-Frempong Ampaw, also addressed the gathering, underscoring his long-standing commitment to supporting widows in the area. Known across the region as "Chief Buffalo," the MP stated, “Supporting widows has always been a priority for me. Even before this programme, many in my community can testify to the help they’ve received from me personally. When you’re a leader, you become a father to all. So this Bread and Bounty initiative is not just charity — it’s family.”
The MP took the opportunity to outline his development agenda for 2026, urging constituents to remain supportive and pray for his continued service. “We are laying strong foundations for the future. I ask for your prayers as we work to deliver better roads, schools, and healthcare for all,” he said.
He also addressed pressing local concerns, particularly cattle-related conflicts affecting farmlands. “I am working closely with the Municipal Chief Executive and the Minister of the Interior to resolve these issues swiftly. Our farmers must be protected, and peace must be maintained,” he affirmed.
Grateful beneficiaries flooded social media and local radio stations with words of thanks. “This is more than food — it’s love,” said Madam Afua Mensah, a 68-year-old widow from Atwire. “For months, I’ve been surviving on little. Today, I left the hall with full bags and a full heart.”
Another beneficiary, Madam Esi Owusu, added, “We are not forgotten. People care. That’s what this day means to us.”
The Bread & Bounty Foundation has pledged to make this annual outreach a cornerstone of its mission, reinforcing its message: No widow in Abuakwa North has to face hardship alone.
With plans for expansion and deeper community engagement on the horizon, today’s event stands as a powerful testament to compassion in action — one meal, one care package, and one smile at a time.
