Ernest Owusu Bempah, a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has defended GOLDBOD CEO Sammy Gyamfi after it was revealed that he presented a $1 gift to controversial evangelist Patricia Asiamah, also known as Nana Agradaa.

A video of Nana Agradaa joyfully presenting bundles of US cash went viral, sparking the news.


She said Sammy Gyamfi gave her the money as a gift. A lot of people started to wonder why he handed her the money and where it came from.

To determine whether the cash were obtained from public sources, some NPP members have even requested that the Office of the Special Prosecutor launch an investigation.
But Owusu Bempah doesn't think it's a huge deal. He thinks Sammy Gyamfi is wealthy enough to give $800 to someone without causing a stir.

When he was in opposition, Sammy Gyamfi was using Land Cruisers and traveling in business class. To him, what does $800 mean? remarked Owusu Bempah in an interview.


He went on to say that people ought to refrain from making unfounded accusations and disparaging Sammy Gyamfi.

He claims that Sammy has always led a comfortable life and doesn't require money theft in order to provide gifts.

Others, however, contend that since Sammy Gyamfi is now in a public office and runs a government-supported organization, his financial dealings should be made public, particularly when they include sizable monetary gifts to divisive individuals like Nana Agradaa.
Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor, has not yet stated if his office will investigate the case. However, public pressure is mounting, with many demanding a thorough investigation to set the record straight.

Nana Agradaa hasn't given much details concerning the funds. She still makes videos on the internet, but she hasn't explained why the dollar present was given.


On social media, some Ghanaians are upset. They contend that such donations ought to be questioned in difficult times, particularly when they involve public resources and powerful individuals.
