Two people have been detained by the Volta North Regional Police Command on suspicion of trafficking what seems to be narcotic drugs in the Volta Region.

During an intelligence-led operation on Friday, January 30, 2026, the suspects—driver Etornam Vumadzi and Emmanuel Komlagah—were taken into custody. According to police, the two were stopped in a Toyota minivan with the license plate GT-6592-19 when they were transferring the alleged drugs from Godenu to Togo.

A search of the car produced 18 sacks, according to a police statement signed by Inspector Felix Kwao, the Volta North Regional Public Relations Officer, and released on January 31. There were 36 yellow oval bundles of suspected narcotic drugs in each sack, for a total of 648 parcels.
