On social media, a terrifying tale of crime and treachery involving a taxi driver and his companion has surfaced.
The trotro mate has admitted to killing a woman and making a false accusation against his driver's family.
Isaac Arhin, a mate (bus conductor), lived with his driver and cousin, Evans Mensah, until he was expelled for reportedly having an affair with a 13-year-old passenger who frequently boarded their car, according to police and family sources.
A preacher eventually took in Isaac, who was homeless and bitter, and let him live with his mother-in-law.
However, in a startling turn of events, Isaac cold-bloodedly killed the old woman.
According to investigators, he stole GH?1,500 in cash from her chamber and initially struck her with a pestle before strangling her with a polythene bag.
Additionally, according to police sources, Isaac falsely accused his driving cousin Evans of slapping him and evicting him from his house in an attempt to "teach him a lesson" after he was arrested and assaulted to identify his accomplice.
For two months while the investigations proceeded, both individuals were placed under detention in custody.
Isaac has since admitted, nevertheless, that Evans was innocent and that he committed the crime alone. He allegedly admitted to investigators that his decision to clear his cousin's identity was motivated by guilt and restless nights.
Despite his confession, Evans Mensah's release from remand is still hampered by the fact that the case has already been filed in court and both men are named as suspects. Human rights activists and community leaders are urging immediate action to free Evans and guarantee that justice is done, and police say investigations are still ongoing and that the public will be informed of any new developments.
