The winner of the local parliamentary election is Samuel Abu Jinapor, the current member of parliament for the Damongo seat. Despite tension and instability after the votes, Jinapor, who ran on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket, was able to hold onto his seat.
Confusion over the election's outcome caused supporters of different candidates to demand clarification, which led to the announcement. Before the results were ultimately revealed, security guards and election officials tried to calm things down.
